Sorry – applications have now closed
Hello, my name is Richard Hills. I opened Tokyo Diner as an offshoot of my family’s main business in 1992.
We try to make the bookkeeping job as straightforward as we can: we keep the accounts up-to-date, and we pride ourselves in paying people on time. Perhaps that’s why we’ve only had three changes of bookkeeper in the last three decades!
Tokyo Diner is a little London landmark. Before the pandemic, we normally served about 300 meals every day and we employed around 40 people. The purpose of this job is to manage all aspects of our finances as we rebuild the business.
Benefits
- Full market rate of pay with all statutory benefits.
- Positive, stable working environment in a long-running, friendly, fuss-free, family firm.
- Easy-to-get-to location in the vibrant West End – just 75 metres from Leicester Square station (but some of the work can also be done remotely if you prefer). See map.
- Free meals when you are working at Tokyo Diner.
- Staff discount when you visit Tokyo Diner.
Your Responsibilities
- General bookkeeping (e.g. Bank Reconciliations, Purchase and Sales Ledgers, Cash Book, Payroll, Pensions, VAT returns, Company Returns, Cashflow Forecasts, Management Reports, etc.) for Tokyo Diner and its related companies.
- For more detail, please see the Job Description.
Your Skills and Experience
- At least five years’ experience in general bookkeeping (as described above and detailed in the Job Description).
- Previous experience with one of the other major accounting packages – preferably Quickbooks Online – is required.
- General IT skills, especially MS Excel, Word and Google GSuite.
Your Personal Attributes
- You have good communication skills (written, oral and computer).
- You have a high level of self direction and good time management skills. (This job mainly involves working alone – although you will have part-responsibility for an office junior who can perform routine tasks that you are not required to do, such as counting cash.)
- You have settled down somewhere within easy commuting distance of Tokyo Diner and are looking for a long-term position where you will be respected and appreciated.
- Although it could be an advantage, the ability to speak Japanese is not a requirement for this job.
However, this position will require you to have a high level of interest and respect for foreign cultures and to be able work in an environment where other people are often speaking a foreign language.
Deadlines
- Closing date for applications:
15.00 on Thursday 24 February 2022 - We hope to have drawn up a shortlist of the people we would like to meet at interview by
