Technical Test - please read these instructions



The following technical test has 16 questions and is not expected to take more than about 15 - 25 minutes. Here is a sample question:

What is the current 'standard' rate of VAT? (Note: This is not the same as the current reduced rate for the hospitality industry.)
12.5% 15% 17.5% 20%
(The correct answer is "20%".)


Questions will include the following topics:

  • General knowledge about bookkeeping
  • Logic and arithmetic
  • Specific information we have already given you about this role (if in doubt, we suggest you re-read the home page, the job description and the 'About Us' page)

Accuracy is more important to us than speed

  • You will be permitted to make reasonable use of calculators, reference material and online searches, etc.
  • Please be aware that, in the event of a tie, points will also be awarded for speed.


    • We therefore suggest that:

    • you are in a place where you will not be disturbed;
    • you have pencil and paper, calculator, etc;
    • you do not start this online assessment until you can be sure you have sufficient time available to complete it in one sitting;
    • if you are tired or distracted, it may be better to rest and make yourself comfortable before you press the "START TEST" button.
    After the test, you will be taken to a page where you can tell us more about you and what you require for your 'perfect' job (see 'About You').

    You will only be able to attempt the technical test once, so please BE CAREFUL not to hit the "Finish" button until you have completed all the questions and checked all your answers.
